Emails, letters, phone calls
Contact your U.S. Senators & U.S. Representatives and tell them you want increased funding for FMT Research. If you are so inclined, you can mention that you support changing the current federal legislation that requires that 50% of all U.S. Government medical research dollars be spent on research for HIV/AIDS. This legislation has been in place since 1986, when HIV/AIDS was a national epidemic. With recent and continued advances in research on HIV/AIDS, that is no longer the case, and that legislation needs to be changed. You can find information on contacting your U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives here: https://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml
Contact the Funding Division of NIH, (National Institutes of Health), which is responsible for granting all U.S. government medical research dollars, and let them know you support increased funding for FMT, by contacting The National Institute of Environmental and Health Services.
Contact NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). The mission of the NCATS is to catalyze the generation of innovative methods and technologies that will enhance the development, testing, and implementation of diagnostics and therapeutics across a wide range of human diseases and conditions. Please contact them and let them know you support increased funding for FMT.
Volunteer for a Task
The Foundation will gladly accept any and all volunteers. We are currently recruiting for the following roles. Please note that these are unpaid positions.
Store-keeper
The online store-keeper will have merchandising flare and be IT savvy. You will be required to set up the online store via Shopify or other similar platform and source bargain-basement priced promotional items such as: t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, beverage holders, buttons, ribbons, baseball caps, posters, bumper stickers, and more.
Many will feature not only our brown ribbon to raise FMT awareness, but also unique and possibly hysterically funny slogans that we have had a wonderful time creating, and that maybe only those of us interested in FMT will appreciate!
Patient Liaison
This role will involve answering patient emails and queries on the facebook page. It would suit someone with a para-medical background (eg pharmacist or nurse) who can answer questions responsibly and with compassion, without giving medical advice.
PR Secretary
This role will involve phone around and booking speaking appointments and workshops for the Foundation’s President Catherine Duff to attend. The response so far to Catherine’s presentations has been overwhelming. We believe that community groups and medical professionals will respond very favourably to these invitations if given a chance.
Power-point Presentations
This role will involve preparing two power-point presentations, one for community groups and lay-people and the other for medical professionals. The presentations will provide a background on FMT research, FDA requirements, HMO requirements and patient FAQs. This task would suit a para-medical person with good written and visual presentation skills and a knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint.
